Positive: Everything was excellent: however if you are used to sleeping on a bed other than a futon, be prepared to possibly be uncomfortable...especially if you are a side sleeper and have any shoulder issues. The futons are about half the thickness of futons I have purchased in the USA, so I needed to triple the amount of the futons (which fortunately there was a third one available in the closet for me since there were only two of us staying in the "family" sized room). Other than that, everything was superb. The lady of the house let us store our luggage before check-in and after check-out...so NICE!!

Negative: the futons could be thicker

Summary: It was everything one can expect of a traditional Ryokan for an exceptional value.
