Summary: I'm really glad I had the chance to stay at the 100 year old Guesthouse Hana Nishijin—it's a beautiful and charming place that left a great impression, even though I only stayed for one night. The decor is lovely, with traditional touches that reflect the rich history of the area. The garden is particularly beautiful and adds to the peaceful, authentic atmosphere.
The location is excellent—close to major Kyoto attractions and very convenient for our day trip. Despite its central spot, it felt quiet and relaxing, offering a nice retreat.
The traditional tatami mats and bedding were surprisingly comfortable—far more than I expected. It’s clear a lot of thought has gone into preserving an authentic experience while ensuring guest comfort.
That said, I wouldn't recommend it for a full 7-day stay. While it's perfect for a night or two, the setup may not be ideal for a longer visit, depending on your needs.
Highly recommend this guesthouse for a short stay to get a taste of traditional Kyoto hospitality!

Summary: Very friendly owners and staff. Clean, comfortable property, and it was a great experience staying in an old house. Highly recommend, as long as you are ok with a shared bath.
