Positive: We booked this last minute for a family break - family of 4, used to holidaying in Germany with 1 fluent German speaker. The apartments were easy to find. The location of Winsen (Luhe) is great if you want to be able to get into Hamburg and is within easy driving distance of Lüneberg, Lübeck and Bremen. Driving to the coast would also be feasible as well as exploring the beautiful countryside around. There are supermarkets very nearby the apartments and some of the best ice cream/Gelato we have ever tried in the town of Winsen itself. The apartment is one of the best thought out, well equipped and comfortable we have ever stayed in. Free parking and WiFi is a huge bonus. Everything in the apartment is fresh, new and clean. Toiletries , dish soap, dishwasher tablets etc are supplied, as were plenty of towels. Although there were still contractors and finishing work going on in the units opposite, the apartment itself was very quiet and there was no problem with noise at night. The comfy seating area is confined to one of the bedrooms but we didn't consider this a big problem for a week's break. There are a few things to be aware of, explained below, but we felt it didn't really detract from this being really fantastic, convenient and good value accommodation, which we would happily use again.

Negative: These are minor concerns but it's worth noting that: The site is right next to a highway maintenance yard. There was no intrusive noise but this and the units opposite is the view from Raum 13 if that's where you end up. The balcony is not really a balcony, it's a walkway giving access to all the units on that level. Again, not a big issue, but good to be aware. It does mean the security light may come on if your neighbours come back after dark and, although Ventilation/Lüften is very much emphasised, it's difficult to achieve as having the doors open blocks the walkway. The pillows are very German - big, square and disappeared into nothing. If you're not used to this and coming from the UK it might be worth bringing inflatable camping pillows to give you a boost.
