Positive: I had the pleasure of spending two nights at Lan Sabai and, as Hugo had only just taken over the hotel at the end of September, I happened to be his very first guest – which made the experience feel even more special. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth by Hugo, a young and highly motivated French host, and his wonderful Thai team. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive and made me feel at home right away. Lan Sabai is a beautiful little oasis. With only eight spacious rooms, surrounded by lush tropical greenery and palm trees, the whole place has a very intimate and peaceful atmosphere. The upper rooms offer beautiful views over the green hills around Rawai, while the ground-floor rooms open directly onto the pool. And the pool itself is fantastic – large and deep enough to actually swim proper laps, yet completely surrounded by tropical greenery. What stayed with me most, though, was the sense of calm throughout the entire property. Everything feels open, natural and thoughtfully designed, with a strong focus on simplicity, sustainability and wellbeing. It makes perfect sense that Lan Sabai is also used as a yoga and wellness retreat. The rooms and the entire property were also exceptionally clean and well maintained. After only two nights, I left feeling noticeably more relaxed and grounded. Hugo and his team are starting this new chapter of Lan Sabai with a lot of heart and positive energy, and I genuinely wish them every success. A wonderful place to slow down, disconnect from everyday life and simply breathe. And since I’m already planning to make Lan Sabai one of my regular escapes in Phuket, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll find me by that pool again soon.
