Positive: Fantastic views over Lake Kawaguchi from the room, which made the stay very special. The complimentary tea time and evening aperitivo were a lovely touch and much appreciated, especially since dining options nearby were limited during our stay. The staff were kind, welcoming, and able to communicate in both English and Japanese. The onsen was relaxing, and I was fortunate enough to have it to myself every time I visited. Tattooed guests are accepted, which makes the hotel accessible to many international travelers. The shuttle van to and from Kawaguchiko Station was very convenient, and the location allowed me to walk down to the lake early in the morning to enjoy beautiful views of Mount Fuji at sunrise.

Negative: The hotel is located on a steep hill, so be prepared for a climb and some cardio. The property feels somewhat dated and could benefit from renovation and modernization. While the natural setting is beautiful, we noticed quite a few large spider webs around windows and other outdoor areas, suggesting they had been there for some time. Finally, compared to some traditional ryokans we stayed in, the atmosphere felt more geared toward international tourists and a bit less authentically Japanese.
